Another Simple Truth
Life is unfair, it has never been fair, and it will never be fair. Just accept it and don't expect anything. Instead, be proactive, move towards your goals, and cover your back.

Good thinking, going right direction. Next step would be to think why it cannot be fair. And the last phase would be to eliminate the concept of fairness from the head (as it does not exist, it is not worth keeping it. The only place where it exists is your head.) Then you will reach Zen -like understanding that life is as it is. Why my comments are always longer than your posts?
