Oberegen Journey (part two)

The first part of this story see here. Finally we got up on the high part of the mountain and that was the place were the real adventures began.

During the first world war in Tyrol have happened several battles. Forces were using the landscape of the region and were positioning the snipers on the strategic heights.

To help the snipers get fast to the positions the first wire-ways (via ferrata) were created. Now via ferratas are common entertainment for mountain tourists.

The new ferratas are being created and maintained by the special organization supported by the province. Usually ferratas goes over the pikes of the mountains, were you can see a cross or a figure of Saint Mary.

Ferratas have different difficulty levels, which are similar to skiing slope difficulties. On the blue ferratas, you can walk easily. On the black ferratas you usually need some climbing skills.

This ferrata was red, though, a tough one. The were some places where you were going without a wire, so that you can feel more adrenaline in your blood.

Anyway, it was really worth to go there. I hope you enjoy the views as much as I do.

At the end I was very tired (it was my first mountain trip), so I gave my camera to Linas and he was taking pictures.

And this is a view of the Rosengarten mountain group. We went there next time. It is famous for a legend about a dwarf king Laurin, that had a garden of roses there, but disturbed with too many visitors, turned his garden into the stone.

The stone of those mountains is white. That's why in the sunset and sunrise they shine with a rose colour.
